On Sunday, November 10 at 10am, the Warhammer club at Flipside Gaming in East Greenbush, NY will be hosting a charity event to honor the memory of Alex Stratton, a community member who was recently lost to mental illness. All registration fees will be donated to the National Alliance on Mental Illness. If you cannot make it to the event, please consider making a donation in Alex's name.
This will be a laid-back and casual event with the focus on the charity and having a great time with friends. Prizes will be trophies awarded to Best Overall (battle, appearance, and sportsmanship combined).
We will be playing both 40k and Age of Sigmar. Those of you with an army for both systems are encouraged to bring both along with you on the day of the event. You are welcome to play either army as the day progresses. You may choose to use both or only one of your armies for best appearance.
This is an escalation event. The first game will be 500 points, the second game will be 1000 points, the third game will be 1500 points, and the fourth game will be 2000 points. You are encouraged, but not required, to use the same units in later games that you used in earlier games.
Open War games are designed to be very fast, so for our scenarios, we will be using the Open War deck for both 40k and Age of Sigmar and all players in each system will use the same card combinations. All cards used in each game will be discarded and not used in the rest of the games that day ensuring that each game will be totally unique.
We will be using the Matched Play rules during this event.
Players may make additional donations to NAMI during the event for the following:
- $1.00 1 bonus CP in 40k
- $2.00 1 bonus CP in Age of Sigmar
- $3.00 Break a Matched Play rule (use a stratagem more than once per phase, deepstrike with a single unit turn 1, etc.)
- $5.00 Force your opponent to re-roll a single dice even if it has already been re-rolled (but after your opponent has had an opportunity to use any re-rolls they may have)
Please be sure to call ahead and register so that we can have an accurate head count for the event. Also, feel free to drop in on our Facebook event and mark yourself as attending.
If you're a Magic the Gathering player, you can also support the cause by attending the Magic event that same weekend. See that event's Facebook page for details.
